“Cat” "Honky Cat” Cat One (Get Stormy X Kitten’s Joy)
2021 Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare
This young lady has proven herself valuable and adaptable.
With a calm, sweet personality, excellent muscling, incredible breeding, fabulous movement, tons of chrome, absolutely stunning bright color, all tied together in a beautiful package, we see this girl having endless possibilities in her future.
She could do well as a hunter/jumper, eventer, dressage horse, lesson horse, 4H partner, mama to warmblood or sport-bred thoroughbred foals - her temperament is so fabulous, she could even trail ride and fox hunt!
She is an excellent size, right in that “sweet spot” that everyone is looking for. No one is impervious to her charm! The first day she arrived at our farm, we were already getting texts begging us not to list her. She has the kindest, most honest face and eyes - and her ear fuzzies give her the appearance of an actual kitty cat!
“Cat” came from excellent racing connections who handled her with care and respect. This is apparent in her gentle and calm demeanor, and her great muscling/topline.
Rarely, you find a horse with breeding that appeals to both racing and sporthorse folks, and “Cat” is one of those very rare horses. Her sire, Get Stormy, of the Storm Cat line, is known for producing not only gritty and wildly successful racing prodigies, but also successful and resilient sporthorses. Her maternal grandsire, Kitten’s Joy, was American Champion Turf Horse in 2004, and produced many high-caliber, high-level heavy-hitters in the racing world. Both of these sires are absolutely gorgeous, and are known for the success of their offspring on grass (hence why we think “Cat” would love eventing!)
“Cat” has been perfect since the moment she stepped off the trailer. She wants to cuddle with everyone she meets, she immediately took to groundwork in and out of the arena, she was polite and kind under saddle immediately. She has been popped over fences with zero hesitation. She understands contact with the bit already, and is willing to try her hardest with anything she’s asked. She doesn’t get wild in turnout, she’s great in the stall, and she cross ties like a dream! Great for the farrier, loves to be groomed. She is currently in a classically-based basic riding and jumping program, with lots of exposure to “real world” activities to ensure a well-rounded foundation and physical wellness.
Her shoes were recently removed, and has been thriving barefoot. Her hooves are excellent, with great walls, soles, and cupping on all four feet.
We think she would be a perfect fit for a handy amateur or junior who is looking for a loving and fun partner and wants room to explore multiple disciplines, or a professional who wants a solid mare that could take on multiple roles in their barn. Who doesn’t want a horse around that can be taken to shows, play at home, hack out on the trails, and produce gorgeous, good tempered foals?
Cat would be suitable for:
Hunter/Jumper
Dressage
Foxhunting/Hunter Pace
