“Stevie” A Sense of Wonder
(Graaf Kelly X CM Hadara X Halyr Meia)
2022 Rose Grey Dutch Harness X Arab
(Double Registered)
“Stevie” is an example of a horse that truly needs to be seen to be believed. His presence and demeanor are striking, everyone who sees him is immediately drawn to him and his utter confidence. He is as fabulously unique as he is talented - total dream horse material! From his incredible color, perfect conformation, personable attitude, drive to succeed, and air of pure charisma - he is everything you want in a young sporthorse prospect.
Stevie has a phenomenal set of gaits - his walk is swinging and he points his toes as he struts, his trot is lofty, springy, elegant and effortless, his canter is breathtaking and incredibly uphill. His hind is full of good activity, and he has generous freedom of the shoulder. His back is flexible and he is happy to use it correctly. He has a beautiful, playful expression on his face as he works, yet his eyes remain soft and kind. His dusty rose color and flashy markings are unique, and it will be a joy to see how it develops as he ages.
He is currently working on basic classical concepts - purity of the gaits, lightness, attention to the seat and leg, connection over the topline, stretching, core engagement, bending, and transitions. He also has been very lightly over small fences and he LOVES it. He catches a ton of air over even a little cross rail and always seems to find a great distance. Stevie is incredibly proficient at long-lining/ground driving and lunging. He hacks out beautifully around the farm, with confidence on full display. His mouth is soft and he is light to the rein aids. He has shown great aptitude to the changes during ground work. He loves pole work and puzzles that make him think!
One of Stevie’s impressive qualities is his breeding. He is by the Dutch Harness stallion Graaf Kelly, who needs no introduction! National DHH AND KWPN (registered as both) Champion year after year for both riding and driving disciplines, he is known for his happy, playful demeanor and his eye-popping gaits. (Stevie is KWPN eligible and can be triple registered!) His dam, CM Hadara, is an Egyptian-type Arab and granddaughter of Thee Desperado on her dam’s side, who is known as nothing short of purely magical and again, needs no introduction. One of the leading Arab sires of the century, he produced typey, elegant, and striking examples of the breed, and even became a Breyer Horse!
Stevie has already been very successfully shown in-hand. His breeder, who showed him as a youngster, is still in-touch and loves him! He was started in an Arab program as a 3 year old, but his skill and potential as a sporthorse was quickly recognized and he was transitioned into a classical riding program.
He has solid (and barefoot!) feet, cool, tight legs and joints, and clear lungs and eyes. She shows no sign of lameness, inconsistency of gait, limitations, or loss of function.
Stevie stands in the cross ties, bathes, walks in and out from pasture, lives inside or outside, stands for the farrier, etc. He has no buck/rear/bolt or vices. Being a young and very talented athlete of high caliber breeding, he is still wiggly and curious and has a cheeky streak, so will require a program of some type to help steer his massive potential.
We believe Stevie will be either very successful as an FEI Dressage mount due to his superb natural talent for movement, or will have the agility and endurance to go far as a jumper/eventer. It’s hard to overstate just how talented this horse is. Suitable for a AA/JR/YR in a program, or as a pro’s personal mount to develop and take up the levels (he will finish out around 16hh with a wide barrel).
