“Stu” Full Volume

Equine Companion

Stu came to TruBlu Equestrian as a sale horse. Somewhere along the way, however, he became much more than that.

After an early diagnosis of DSLD, a terminal disease that affects the connective tissue, Stu’s path changed. Rather than continuing on as a sale horse, he became Steve’s riding companion and an important part of the family. Eventually, he stopped being ridden all together and took on another role: companion and friend to Truman and the ever-changing group of sale horses that pass through TruBlu.

Stu is the kind of horse who seems to love everyone he meets. Fun-loving, sweet, and endlessly personable, he has a way of making himself at home wherever he goes. He adores his “brother,” Truman, and the two have developed a particularly special bond. Together, they have become a familiar pair around the farm and an important source of companionship and confidence for the other horses.

Stu’s journey has not always been easy. He has had several very close calls with his disease, but each time, he has rallied. With careful management, ample turnout, proper nutrition, and plenty of attention to his individual needs, Stu continues to do remarkably well.

His story is a reminder that a horse’s value is not always measured by what he can do in the show ring or what he can be sold for. Sometimes a horse’s greatest contribution is simply the life he becomes part of.

Stu was supposed to be a sale horse. Instead, he became family. Today, he is a beloved companion, a steady presence in the herd, Truman’s best friend, and one of the personalities that makes TruBlu what it is.
